Association Information
ABCD AFRICA ASSOCIATION may admit legal entities and individuals residing in any African country, that are supportive of the objectives of the Association, which are as follows:
The Association is a non-profit organisation established for the following public benefit objectives:
To establish a network of ABCD researchers and practitioners across Africa for the purposes of:-
- Building a body of knowledge and evidence for ABCD approaches to development
- Advocating for ABCD approaches and programmes with key stakeholders
- Developing resources and supporting communities of practice to advance ABCD programming throughout the continent of Africa
- Forming partnerships, alliances and collaborations with aligned networks, movements, associations, donors, higher education institutions, research institutes and government to advance citizen-led and appreciative approaches to community development
Asset-Based Citizen-led Development (ABCD) is a global movement that recognises and builds on the strengths, gifts, talents and resources of individuals and communities to create strong, inclusive and sustainable communities. ABCD is a powerful approach to community engagement and development that focuses on abilities and potential, rather than problems and deficits by discovering the resources that are already present in a community. Discovering community strengths is a powerful and productive way for citizens to activate their agency to address problems and realise a collective vision.

CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP
- Membership is not transferable
- Members must subscribe to the objectives and principles of the Association
- Members must sign and honour the code of commitment (which talks about the way we engage each other in the Association), once membership is approved
